Coombe Crag Roman Quarry

Evidence of Roman quarrying activity was discovered at Coombe Crag, a site some 350 meters south of the line of Hadrian's Wall. The quarry was used as a source of building materials for the Wall and at least eight inscriptions were identified on the sandstone cliff.
