Aşağı Anzaf Fortress

The Aşağı Anzaf Fortress ("Lower Anzaf Fortress") is situated in the Van region in southeast Turkey. It was built by the Urartian King Išpuini (9th / 8th century BCE) who reports about his building activity in several building inscriptions (see especially the building inscription on the fortification wall (CTU A 2-6). Another fortress at Anzaf, namely Yukarı Anzaf (Upper Anzaf) was built by Išpuini's son Minua (9th / 8th century BCE).
