Termitito

Termitito is located in the hinterland of the ancient city of Herakleia in Lucania (in the vicinity of present-day Policoro. Herakleia and its hinterland have been the subject of extensive fieldwork. The remains of a Roman villa have been excavated at Termitito. Giardino 1994 notes that Roman-period sites that developed in this area had various objectives in terms of landscape exploitation. The situation of this villa aims to exploit the scenographic potential of its position.
