A Romano-British villa was identified at Norton Disney in 1933. This villa site has its origins in the first century CE and continued in use until the mid-fourth century. There were several architectural phases, the most elaborate of which included a corridor-type villa, a bath complex, a basilica-type hall, and a system of perimeter defenses.
