Amorion

settlement · 330 BC – 640 AD

A Hellenistic and Roman settlement that eventually prospered under the Byzantine Empire, Amorion began minting its own coins in the second century BCE. Its decline comes following a sacking in the ninth century at the hands of Caliph Al-Mu'tasim.
