New City/Newtown

According to the Babylonian topographical text Tintir = Babylon, New City (ālu eššu) was one of the six city districts of the eastern half of the inner city of Babylon and it contained two temples and one dais. This city quarter dates back to the late Old Babylonian Period (as demonstrated by a commercial archive excavated in the Merkes).
