Temple of Amada

The Temple of Amada is the oldest Egyptian temple known in Nubia. Founded by Pharaoh Thutmose III (18th dynasty), the temple was dedicated to Amun and Re-Horakhty. The decorative program is attributed to Amenhotep II, his son and successor. The temple was relocated to its current position in 1964 along with the Temple of Derr.
