Serpent Column

An ancient bronze column that was displayed in the Hippodrome of Constantinople, the Serpent Column was part of a monument originally installed at Delphi and relocated to Constantinople by Constantine I in A.D. 324. The monument was originally built to celebrate the Greek defeat of the Persian Empire at the Battle of Plataea in 479 B.C.
