Nicopolis ad Nestum/Ulpia Nicopolis

A settlement founded in Thrace to mark Trajan's victory in the Dacian Wars. It is located on the left bank of the Mesta river. Occupied through late antiquity, the site was destroyed by the seventh century and subsequently re-occupied by the late tenth century.
