Başkale

Başkale (Turkish "Main Castle") is a town and district located in Van Province in south-eastern Turkey. According to an inscription in the Urartean language of the Urartean king Minua (9th/8th century BCE) on a stone block (A 5-52), the fortress located here was built by Minua. It was given the name "City of the God Haldi".
