ville d’Auxerre

Located 3 km south of the town of Auxerre, France, on the right bank of the Yonne River, archaeologists excavated the remains of an extensive Gallo-Roman villa covering an area of approximately 1.6 hectares. The villa site includes a bath complex. The site has been noted for its archaeological potential since the nineteenth century. While some excavations took place in the 1960s, the open-area excavation of the villa was announced in 2025.
