Aris (river)

Described by Pausanias as flowing past the ancient Messenian site of Thouria "in the plain", this river seems to correspond today to a heavily managed stream originating in the vicinity of Pedema and flowing south to the Messenian Gulf, bypassing ancient Thouria on the west.
