Piscina Torta

Piscina Torta is a place located in the Tyrrhenian coastal zone to the south of Ostia. The ancient place would have been part of the southern Tiber River delta. There would have been several natural ridges parallel to the coast and a coastal lagoon. The site has been connected with salt production since as early as the seventh century BCE and is linked with the city of Rome. The site has been the focus of several archaeological campaigns, applying techniques including surface survey and geophysical prospection.
