Villa of Manlius Vopiscus

A villa site near Tivoli that has long been associated Manlius Vopiscus, who Statius mentions. Excavations began in 1825. In 1835 Pope Gregory XVI began construction of his eponymous Villa Gregoriana on the grounds of the Roman villa.
