Habuba Kabira (South)

settlement · 4000 BC – 2100 AD

The southernmost of two associated settlements located on the western bank of the Euphrates, and one of the only examples of large-scale residential architecture from the Late Uruk period. Rescue excavations were conducted at the site before it was inundated by the Tabqa Dam Reservoir in the early 1970s.
