Library of Hadrian at Athens

The Library of Hadrian is located on the north side of the Athenian Acropolis, immediately to the north of the Roman Agora. The Roman emperor Hadrian built the complex in A.D. 131/2. It was subsequently destroyed during the Herulian sack of Athens in A.D. 267.
