Messon

church · 750 BC – 640 AD

An extensive ancient sanctuary complex on the island of Lesbos, thought to have been dedicated to Zeus, Hera and Dionysos and dating back to at least the 7th century BCE. A Christian basilica was built on the site in the late fourth century CE.
